The APPG on Agroecology co-hosted a meeting with 3 other APPGs: the Conservation & Wildlife APPG, the Biodiversity APPG & the Hill farming APPG, to bring together politicians, High Nature Value (HNV) farmers, farming organisations, academics, the food industry and interested NGOs to celebrate and raise awareness of High Nature Value farming across the UK. The event saw the launch of the Manifesto for HNV Farming, which can be read here.
This event, co-chaired by members of 3 of the APPGs: Baroness Miller of Chilthorne Domer, Angela Smith MP and Huw Irranca-Davis MP. The meeting provided an opportunity to hear more about the concept of High Nature Value farming with the launch of the ‘Manifesto for HNV farming’, and discussion about how we can support our most valuable farming systems to ensure the survival of our most threatened wildlife and cultural landscapes.
The meeting heard from High Nature Value farmers from the four UK countries, along with speakers: Pat Thompson, Senior Uplands Policy Officer, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and Gwyn Jones, Chief Executive, European Forum on Nature Conservation & Pastoralism.
